People, Places and Things is a two act drama written by Duncan Macmillan. It centers around “Emma,” an actress with an assortment of names, drugs and ways to find attention. The play chronicles her struggle to get and stay clean.
People, Places and Things by Duncan Macmillan explores the nature of truth and the multiplicity of the human spirit. "Emma", the main character, is divided into many personalities, played by multiple chorus members. The audience explores Emma's view of truth within a drug addled brain going through rehab. Macmillan's poststructuralist narrative enables sound and lights to feel distorted in an attempt to manifest Emma's experience.
