Voice Lessons
I'm a classically trained Bel Canto Opera singer who started lessons at 10 years old. I’ve also studied Jazz and composition in high school and college. After singing in a girls group, cabarets and a half dozen choirs, I transitioned to performing in a reimagined version of Don Juan (directed by Jean Randich) and then Turandot and Amahl and the Night Visitor (both directed by Robert Wilson). I've sung with CocoRosie. I've also performed with a host of local bands. I used to be part of a band called Bell Jar which featured tight two-part harmonies. I’ve also composed songs for musicals.

I make sure my students know proper alignment, the anatomy of the voice, breath support, resonators, diction, and ear training. This technique gives singers the control they need to safely perform challenging music. This type of work allows students to develop their abilities in vocal runs, harmonies, crossing their range and belting. It also allows singers to identify how to best support their voice in different types of music such as musical theatre, jazz, pop, and Opera.
